Rockin and Rollin Down South with the Dukes of Glynn

Written by
Dylan Gallagher

Straight out of Brunswick, Georgia, the Dukes of Glynn blazon forth with great country-rock and boogie metal. With deep, heavy vocals and guitar riffs, the Dukes of Glynn rock the house. Both their lead guitar and their rhythm guitar have expert bits and sound amazing. The drums hit heavy and are very present in each song, laying a solid bedrock for the rest of the music to build off. The Dukes of Glynn vocals are similar to Tom Waits with that raspy, deep tone, but they are full of energy and emotion, enough to get you head banging on their first track.

The song "Fire Woman" is a powerful, heavy rock song with a pretty sick guitar solo and a great rhythm guitar riff. The song "Fox On A Hen/Country Mile" has a sweet guitar riff and opens with an eerie screeching and raspy vocal performance. The guitar riff is enough to hook you in for the rest of the song, which goes on with fast-paced lyrics and a steady rhythm. The drummer also has excellent roll outs that are right on cue. "Fox On A Hen/Country Mile" also uses an expertly timed and written banjo section that really just gets me.

The Dukes of Glynn as a whole sound like they could have formed together at a Black Sabbath concert in the south. That's right. I said it. They sound like a Southern Black Sabbath. I can only imagine how this band formed, but I am glad they did. Their music is in-your-face, intricate, and well produced, not to mention heavy. And hey, who doesn't like a good head-banging every now and then. They're great for driving to, as well. So roll down your windows, blast Dukes of Glynn, and take a spin.
